The Fairways Cup

The Players Cup

The Players Cup starts Wednesday May 2nd, 2018 at Pine Brook, Mallard Creek, and Dragon Ranch Golf Clubs. League play is every Wednesday starting at 5:00 p.m. It is an individual stroke play based league consisting of a weekly 9-hole tournament that is scored much like the PGA’s FedEx Cup.

Want to test your golf abilities against an entire league and win cash prizes? We have made that possible!

The Players Cup is kicking off its second season in 2018 and we want you to be a part of it. League play will alternate between Pine Brook, Mallard Creek, and Dragon Ranch Golf Clubs each week, so you will enjoy playing a variety of holes and layouts. The league is formatted as an individual ‘FedEx Cup’ style setup up. Tee times start at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday nights. League play will begin on May 2nd, 2018 and go until September 12th, 2018.

League fees are $100 per person. Fees will go towards cash payouts, food and beverages for the included cookouts, prizes, handicap tracking and general management of the league. We allot $80 of each entry fee towards the cash payouts and $20 will go towards the cookouts and prizes. After the league signup fee is paid you just pay greens fees each week.

Each player will play 9 holes of golf each week using stroke play scoring. Players will be going head-to-head against the entire league instead of having a different opponent each week. Players will earn points based on the position they finish for the week. For example, if you finish with the lowest net score on a certain week, you will be the first-place finisher and receive the highest possible points for that week. On the other hand, if you finish with the highest net score on a certain week, you will be the last-place finisher and will receive the lowest possible points for that week. Your total points will be added up throughout the season. The ultimate goal is to have the most total points at the end of the season. Below you can find a scoring example:

There will be both a regular season championship and a playoff championship. The regular season championship will be determined by the most points scored throughout the season. We will have two “major” events throughout the season where we will have double points for those days. Regular season points will carry over to the playoffs, however playoff points will be worth 4 times the regular season value. There will be 4 playoff rounds. The player with the most points at the end of the playoff rounds will be crowned the playoff champion.

We will also host two fun days throughout the year where we host a (2) man scramble on one day and a Ryder Cup day on another. There will be a cookout to follow on both of those fun days. The cookout is all you can eat and all you can drink! We will also run a $5.00 skins and pins game each week. Skins and pins are completely voluntary so you can sign up at your own discretion.

We hope you can be a part of the 2nd season of the Players Cup! If you are interested in signing up or learning more about this league please email Matt@TheMallardCreek.com or call Mallard Creek at (440) 748-8231. We look forward to having you as a part of the Players Cup in 2018!
